Perhaps you, like many travelers, find Rome in the middle of your driving vacation and although strongly encouraged to dump the car, you’re stuck with it. Parking in a garage is challenging if you don’t speak the language – Heck, just finding the garage can be challenging! Parking at your hotel might be the best option. But parking at downtown hotels can be quite expensive. And getting to many of them, in the older, narrow streets of centro Rome, can be quite difficult. But there are other options. There are roughly 1,800 hotels in the metro Rome area. Using the booking.com website, you can sort for those hotels with parking facilities… it returns about 450+ locations.
But if you take the time to thumb through the 450+ sites (I did), you see that many have parking, but it’s NOT at their hotel, rather a convenient, nearby facility. Often times that option may be a garage 2-3 blocks away with an “agreement,” yet no privileges.
For that purpose I’ve compiled a list of 90+ locations that not only offer ON-SITE parking, but FREE on-site parking. In addition, I’ve mapped out these 90+ locations so you can see which one works for you. In doing this research I was surprised that 20% of the hotels that offer ON-SITE parking provide it FREE! But I guess that makes sense because most hotels don’t offer any parking facilities – Rome was built long before the automobile! And also, as you would expect, almost all of these 90+ hotels FREE-PARKING hotels are NOT located downtown.
For each of the entries, you can click on the hotel name and you’ll be taken to the respective booking.com page for more information and the opportunity to book the hotel. The hotels in the list are organized alphabetically, not by any preference or location. Booking.com provides ratings, rankings, pictures, etc. that can assist you . In addition, you can also use the Google Map to “locate” your hotel and nearby transportation options. Below the map is a link so you can use to go to Google maps and get a larger, printable Google Map of these locations. You can also use the “Streetview” function of Google Maps to see the areas around your hotel… and of course, there is also the “directions” capability so you can get driving directions to any of the 90+ hotels.
Because many travelers are concerned with driving in Rome, most of these hotels can help you avoid that problem – and save you some money on parking fees; be it at a garage or an expensive downtown hotel. So here’s the map and list of hotels with FREE PARKING in Rome!
