One of the wonderful experiences when in Rome is to be able to enjoy outside seating at a cafe’ or restaurant. And when you are sitting above the rooftops of Rome AND you have an incredible view… your experience is even better! This post describes eighty-four of the Rooftop Bars, Terraces, and Restaurants in the Eternal City. It includes “the place to be seen” bars and quiet hotel breakfast terraces. Most of these are open to the public but hotel bars (like Albergo Senato) are sometimes restricted to hotel guests only – although folks have managed to “get to the roof!”
Much of this list was pulled directly from the website Roof Top Restaurants. They have done a fantastic compiling this information. Their website also describes rooftop gardens, cafe’s, and restaurants all over Italy – so take a look! I’ve taken their list, added more rooftop locations – after hours and hours of research – many, many more pictures. This might be the most complete (and longest) post on Rome’s rooftop locations!
In addition to the Roof Top Restaurants info, this post contains information pulled from the hotel or restaurant home sites and off the web. Click on the the name of each Rooftop establishment and a new window will open. As there are well over 300 pictures and links in this post, it would take an entire post to give proper credit – Thus, when you click on “anything,” (pictures included)… that’s where that info or picture came from!
Below you’ll see a map with all the Rooftop bars, cafe’s and restaurants listed in this article. The number in the title of each Rooftop Location is represented on the map. This map may take a little time, but once loaded, it moves quickly. When you look at the map, it looks OVERCROWDED by all the “pins” which represent each rooftop location. To use this effectively, use the “PLUS” sign on the top LEFT of the Google map to zoom into to the part of Rome to which you’re seeking information. You can zoom in on the map, move it side to side, and naviagate all through town!
