I would like to know how to get in touch with the main VAT Rome, Italy office. I submitted my paperwork for the VAT refund, including my CC # to have it put back on my card, as the form stated. On December 31, I received a notation on my CC bill, indicating 'Tax Refund', from Roma, but was charged $135 on my card, not credited for the $135. How do I now get this credited correctly? Any help is much appreciated!!

You may have better luck having your credit card company run this down for you. Frankly, dealing with the Italian officials will drive you nuts.

It also will depend on which "agency" or VAT company your vendor used when you purchased the item. Those are the folks you have to deal with. I'm not sure what company you purchased through but I am sure any Italian TAX official will tell you, "That's not our problem - you must call them (the company) directly." On your VAT receipt copy should be the name of the VAT company... if you still have it. Your credit card company would know WHO charged you - That might be the place to start.

Having lived in Italy for three years, don't expect much help from the "TAX" department - In most VAT issues, these are private agencies handing the VAT money and some of the biggest companies are Global Refund (http://www.global-blue.com/) and Premier Tax Free (http://www.premiertaxfree.com/). I would imagine your issues are probably with one of those two and their websites could redirect you.

Hope that helps!
Good Luck
