Which hotel should I stay in when visiting Rome? This is a question you hear over and over on every travel board. Certainly one man’s castle is not every man’s castle. Then there’s the location to consider. Will I be close to the parts of Rome I want to see? Is it convenient to transportation options? And of course, price is a consideration – what do I get for my money? Is there a breakfast included? What amenities does the hotel have – a pool, a garage? Is it clean; Is it safe? Picking a hotel is often one of the most difficult (and costly) vacation choices you’ll have to make.
Which hotel should I stay in when visiting Rome? I get asked this question a lot! Since I’ve lived in Rome – but not stayed in hotels in Rome – I would not consider myself an expert. So what are the TOP 25 hotels in Rome? A great question! And who better to get the answer from than…. you – the traveler!

What you’ll see compiled below are the top-rated hotels from each of the major hotel booking and review agents. These hotels were rated by travelers as the best in Rome. There were no price or location limits. There were two stipulations when creating this list. One was that any suggested location must have 5 or more reviews – no one-hit wonders on these lists. The other factor considered was… that the location MUST be a hotel. So you will not find B&B’s, hostels, specialty residences, apartments, or campgrounds on these lists. Just hotels.
A couple of other factors to consider. First, this is a list compiled at one-moment-in-time. Tomorrow, the order of the list and the entries might change – based on traveler experiences But it’s a good starting point as you begin your search for a hotel in Rome. The other point to consider: Many of these booking engines have agreements with specific hotels. If they do not have access or an agreement to book a hotel, it’s definitely NOT going to show up on their list! That’s why I compiled a few lists, so you can cross-reference and see multiple options.
As you look at the lists, they are ranked in the order presented by the websites (at this moment-in-time). The numbers in parenthesis are the score for the hotel. You can click on any name and go the the website’s page for that hotel. This will save you a lot of time in your search. Some hotels are on two or three different lists (we highlighted these in red). Again, price was not a consideration, so you’ll find costs are all across the board. There are 80 different hotels represented by the following sites: Booking.com, Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Tripadvisor.com, and Venere.com.
